=== What is a Dead Drop? === ‘Dead Drops’ is an anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space. USB flash drives are embedded into walls, buildings and curbs accessible to anybody in public space. Everyone is invited to drop or find files on a dead drop. Plug your laptop to a wall, house or pole to share your favorite files and data. Each dead drop is installed empty except a readme.txt file explaining the project. ‘Dead Drops’ is open to participation. === What is your goal? === We support the idea and philosophy behind this project. So we decided to create some more Dead Drops in Luxembourg. If you want to join us, ping Trollchen or Perforin. You should bring an USB flash drive with you which you could spare for the project. === The syn2cat Dead Drop === The first Dead Drop named "syn2cat" was done the 08.07.2012. <gallery> File:Dd overview.jpg|Overview of the Dead Drop location File:Dd approx.jpg|Approximate location File:Dd closeup.jpg|Closeup of the syn2cat Dead Drop </gallery> Here's our official [http://www.deaddrops.com/db/?page=view&id=1087 Dead Drop submission] === How to build one? === * Read the Dead Drops manifesto[http://deaddrops.com/dead-drops/manifesto/] * Get yourself an USB stick of any size * Find a nice spot for your deaddrop * Stick/push/chain your USB drive into a crack or hole. * Put at least the readme[http://deaddrops.com/download/readme.txt] on your USB stick * Take 3 photos of your dead drop (overview, approximate location, closeup) * Submit your Dead Drop[http://deaddrops.com/dead-drops/db-map/]! === More information === For more information about this topic, please visit [http://deaddrops.com deaddrops.com]
