Again this year, the MetaRheinMainChaosDays offer an extensive program which focuses on data privacy and civil rights. On the first evening, interested visitors will have the opportunity to discuss the future of data privacy and informational self-determination with the Federal Minister of Justice of Germany, Ms. Brigitte Zypries. For this, padeluun, a well-known privacy activist, and Dr. Julius Mittenzwei, CCC member and lawyer, will join Ms. Zypries, radio host Holger Klein will moderate the discussion. Admission to the debate is free of charge. Afterwards, the rest of the evening can be enjoyed with cool drinks and summer rhythms. The discussion is an excellent introduction to the following two-day conference which takes place in the Piloty building of the Darmstadt University of Technology. The broad variety of the conference offers many interesting lectures for visitors interested in politics and technology. The topics range from latest developments in the field of encrypted communication over the Internet to ways of avoiding censorship to socio-political topics. In addition to the technical part, the mrmcd0×8h will provide plenty of time for hacker culture, productive talks far off mainstream as well as a lively exchange of ideas. According to the organizers, coffee junkies will have nothing to worry about. The MetaRheinMainChaosDays are scheduled for September 4-6, 2009, at the Darmstadt University of Technology (TU Darmstadt). Tickets for the conference on Saturday and Sunday are available in advance for €10. For further details and registration options please visit http://mrmcd0×8.metarheinmain.de (in German only).
