Involve non-linux users
As Ubuntu is probably the most popular GNU/Linux version for beginners and switchers it would be a great contribution to the free software & culture world, if we could get new people involved with Linux. So what is left to do?
As already mentioned, providing folks with enough Ubuntu CDs as well as a information sheet with helpful information about the beginning or switching to GNU/Linux. A few boxes with prepared operating systems would be recommendable as well. A small presentation about GNU/Linux, the philosophy and the main features of Ubuntu. Don't forget the kids - there are very good educational an games applications for the youngsters.
At the end we can call it an evening.
Presentations
What the heck is GNU/Linux and what does Ubuntu mean?
A short history lesson and an introduction to the world of free software, open knowledge and no borders for innovation and creativity. Without loosing focus of the party's objective: Ubuntu.
Workshops
Ubuntu: One small click for a user, but a giant benefit for mankind
This will help you getting through the first minutes with Ubuntu. It is quite easy to install and get into it, but a little support isn't that bad, especially for the first time when trying to install besides Windows or MacOS. If you want to encrypt your disk or have some other additional feature, don't be shy, just ask!
First we'll have a look over the requirements and accomplish these as good as possible, won't be that hard. Secondly, we'll go on with the installation process itself and accompany you while it. The last step will probably be the biggest one: looking into Ubuntu. How it works, what you can do with it, where are its strengths and where its foibles.

Invitation letter
Don't hesitate to do your own presentation or workshop, even though already listed. Don't forget that joining an activity to contribute is also welcomed. :)
Ladies and Gentlemen, dear syn2cat Members, Linux-Lovers and other Hackers, On April 29th we will celebrate the release of Ubuntu 11.04 at the syn2cat Hackerspace in Strassen [0]. As last year, we shall adjust to the times and have an early barbecue if the weather permits. (Maybe some different food if it doesn't.) There will also be alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at very affordable prices. Other than last year, we're looking into having some programme along the party such as talks, workshops and potentially some entertainment for the young and older hackers. I'd like to profit of this opportunity to join a Call for Proposals to this invitation and I'd kindly ask you to email your suggestions for talks or workshops either to me or to info@hackerspace.lu More, and semi-regularly updated, info will be at your disposal on our wiki [1]. Looking forward to seeing you in April! David [0] https://www.hackerspace.lu/wiki/Location [1] https://www.hackerspace.lu/wiki/Ubuntu_11.04_Release_Party
