This is not only about "hacking" and computers!
A hackerspace or hackspace (from Hacker and Space) is a real (as opposed to virtual) place where people with common interests, usually in science, technology, or digital- or electronic-art can meet, socialize and collaborate. (wikipedia:Hackerspace)
The space should become a hub for people to meet, exchange ideas, build up a hacker-culture and make constructive use of their leisure time. Such use consisting of active participation in collaborative work, making up and working on novel projects in various fields of technology, art, and more specifically micro-electronics, bio-engineering, sensors, data protection, building robots and social software or creating audiovisual effects and music. As a result, the space could also become an outlet for the creative energy of pupils who find themselves unchallenged by traditional educational institutions, perhaps inspiring them to a career in technology.
