[edit] JStor included in IEEE
Is jstor included in ieee? Jstor access 'd be great
- I agree, I think metalib has most IEEE journals but not JSTOR, which is a shame. Having said that, many of the journals in JSTOR overlap with those in the 8 databases that metalib is subscribed to. --Tschew 13:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- I was under the impression that metalib was only a search engine?! (at least that's what it is here: https://metalib.uibk.ac.at/) --kwisatz 20:41, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- oh yes yes, but I'm referring specifically to BNL's metalib, which provides access and authentication to 8 databases of scholarly work --Tschew 21:20, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Prices to be updated
These prices should be updated:
- A 15 Watt solar panel ~130 EUR
- USB I/O board, IOWarrior 56 starter kit ~83 EUR
- Pick and place manual vacuum/suction tool ~700 USD + delivery from US + VAT
- Manual SMD oven (this might get too advanced) ~520 USD + delivery from US + VAT

- I amended the changes! Thanks --SteveClement 15:42, 7 December 2009 (CET)
[edit] Entertainment items
I do not think that Hackerspace should buy items that are only for entertainment. For this reason we should NOT buy:
- Pinball game
- Pool billiard table
- Boardgames
The club is for creativity, learning and development, not for passing time. A pinball game would only be of interest if it was for taking apart and change the game with new bouncers and detectors. A better idea would be to actually construct a pinball game from scratch. For entertainment I suggest to just play a LAN game. --Rif 23:01, 30 November 2009 (CET)
- The [space] is for creativity, learning and development, [and] passing time. Besides, this is not a list of stuff that syn2cat is gonna buy. --kwisatz 23:51, 30 November 2009 (CET)
- Also pinball games are heavily modded and quite a complex thing to even keep going. Electronics and mechanics skills are required to do stuff with a machine like that. --Gunstick 00:02, 3 December 2009 (CET)
- I am partially with Rif on this one, and I think that building a Pinball machine is more fun anyway! --SteveClement 15:42, 7 December 2009 (CET)
[edit] Music Keyboard
The Yamaha PSR-E413 music keyboard does neither have Midi, nor Ethernet connector, nor USB. I do not see how we can make good use of a music instrument like that. As it stand it has less communication interfaces than the legendary Yamaha DX7 of 1980'ies pop fame. If we buy a music keyboard it should at least have one way to interface with a computer. --Rif 23:12, 30 November 2009 (CET)
- So should we try and get such an old school DX7 or maybe a newer model? --SteveClement 15:42, 7 December 2009 (CET)
