We sincerely believe that Luxembourg also needs a place for highly motivated and creative people to meet, socialize and drive innovation. The advent and lasting success of open source principles has shown that great ideas and promising projects can be generated most efficiently where people from various backgrounds get and work together.

We would like to create and run such a place in Luxembourg, where like-minded people could engage in projects, hold or participate in workshops, and collaborate and give or listen to talks. The space should become a hub for people to meet, exchange ideas, build up a 'hacker-culture' and make constructive use of their leisure time. We imagine that place to have a cosy atmosphere and be open to anybody, irrespective of gender, nationality, interests or age, as long as they're fascinated by experimenting and innovating in the fields of software, electronics, contemporary art, social interaction and communication [...] Visitors and regulars of such a space will be eager to learn and pass on their knowledge to interested people.

A hackerspace would be a chance to fill a cultural void in Luxembourg and its neighboring regions and to [xyz] the image of the Greater-Region as a technologically advanced and innovative environment. In that same light, hackerspaces abroad have often turned out to become a place where young Start-Ups get their initial [funken] of inspiration and should therefore be considered as an prime target for investments. Because of the hackerspace becoming a pool of innovative and motivated characters who's sole drawback is their missing financial resources, technology leaders of today would have a chance to support tomorrows technical creative elite and as a result get the possibility of harnessing that potential and creativity. [I still like the old sentence better: "Further, businesses could - and should be encouraged to - support and harness the potential and creativity that will flourish in such a space"]

In order to create such a space, we will require access to an adequate physical location of 100 to 200 square meters. An ideal location would also have to be fitted with adequate sanitary equipment [hell, a bathroom, ok? ;)] and preferably a kitchen. Such a space would be run by a non-profit organisation and accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It would host several organisations and meetings, clubs, associations and projects.

The community of hackerspaces, many of whom just recently saw the light of this world, is a continuous source of inspiration and motivation to/for[??] our efforts. Popular venues abroad include the Metalab in Vienna, the C-Base in Berlin, the Das-Labor in Bochum or the recently founded Hackerspaces Sublab in Leizig and µc³ in Munich.
